Enjoy the deck, private dock, row boat, kayaks, swimming dock, puzzles/board games, and basic cable TV (w/HDMI). Wake up with your morning coffee along the waters edge with panoramic views of Oxbow Bay, the main lake, and the surrounding Green Mountains. End the night sitting lakeside, roasting marshmallows around a spacious campfire in the stone fire-pit. Ski Regions: For those skiing enthusiasts, there are 7 major ski resorts (Killington, Bromley, Okemo, Stratton, West Mt, Pico, and Mt Snow) located within 1 hour driving time from the lake house. Fishing: Fish right from the dock or bring your boat and enjoy the entire lake. There's an abundance of trout, pike, and bass. You can purchase your license online or at the local marina. License Requirements: Anyone fishing, in possession of, or transporting fish taken in Vermont waters or the Vermont/New Hampshire waters of the Connecticut River must be properly licensed and must carry the license on his/her person. Boating: You can launch a boat from the state park or from the Fish and Game launching site at the bridge that divides the main lake from the Little Lake (free). This is a fine place to also launch a sail boat, a jet ski or a canoe. Bird-watching and Hiking: There is a nesting couple of bald eagles on the main lake. Red wing Black birds live in a beautiful undeveloped wetland between the main lake and the Little Lake. Blue Herons are all over, ring bill gulls are on almost every raft. Other birds seen recently: Red tail hawks, pileated woodpeckers, loons (spring and fall), belted kingfishers, common mergansers, Baltimore orioles, gold finches, and more.... The right of way of the old B & M railway runs between West Pawlet and Castleton. The rails were torn up and now it's a biker and hikers trail. There is almost no road free of bikers from Spring through Fall. Several biking companies run regular tours in the region. Check out the Green Mountain Club for area hiking trails with breath-taking scenic views. Shopping: Quaint shops such as the Wells Country Story or Otto's Cones Point General Store are some of the local favorites. Take the scenic drive to Manchester, Vt and enjoy a day at the designer outlets. The drive alone is worth the trip but at the end, you'll land in a picturesque Vermont town laden with designer outlets and delicious eateries. Grocery stores are located within 15 minutes at near by Granville NY or Poultney VT.

Welcome to the Vermont Lake House North Bay, situated on a quiet dead-end drive on the North Bay of Lake Saint Catherine, offering incredible sunset views and private lake frontage on one of the best spots on LSC. With a lakeside patio and dock, large deck, horseshoes, fire pit, kayaks, and an expansive lawn, there is no shortage of ways to unwind and take in the serenity of this quintessential Vermont lake house, during every season. The space Well-kept home has been updated throughout, and includes a smartTV with Netflix and Amazon Prime, high-speed internet access (enabling work from ‘home’), a master BR with sliders to the waterfront deck, books and games, spacious bathroom, and a well-appointed kitchen with granite countertops and a double-door fridge (no freezer; bring a cooler if you’d like – ice can be purchased nearby). There is a pack-n-play, and the deck has a gate to keep little ones from going down the stairs. The lawn does have a slight slope to it, so watch the kids. *Maximum occupancy is 8 adults. The water is shallow near the dock for wading (NOT DIVING!), and drops off just beyond the dock – great for fishing, swimming, boating, and floating. LSC boasts some of the cleanest water in New England, and is ideally located to take advantage of everything the area offers. The LSC Country Club just across the road has a challenging 18-hole golf course and restaurant & tavern open to the public. Within biking distance are the Slate Valley hiking and biking trails, with magnificent mountain and lake views. The fall foliage cannot be beat – and be sure to check out Hick’s Orchard. In winter, reach six ski resorts within an hour, bring your snowmobile just down the road to ride, ice fish or ice skate on the frozen lake, or snowshoe on any number of nearby trails and properties. Look to the charming towns of Manchester, Dorset and Rutland, 30 minutes away, for shopping and farm-to-table dining. Want to catch a world-class concert or watch the thoroughbreds run? Saratoga is a leisurely one-hour drive! There are several breweries and a winery nearby, too. Don’t miss Otto’s down the road, a local favorite for sandwiches, package goods and supplies, maple creamies – and mini golf! Then come back to the lake, settle into an Adirondack chair, and – if you’re lucky enough – catch a glimpse of the resident bald eagles. Security cameras: One outside camera on the side the main entry, to view road and driveway. Another outside camera on the rear of the house to view the lake condition. A third pointed at the slate walk away. All cameras will be on during your stay . Need more space? Check out VT Lake House across the lake! *Bring your own sheets and towels - blankets, pillows, and paper goods will be provided. *There is no freezer, there is an ice maker that makes ice in 7 minutes, we suggest bringing a cooler and putting ice in it.

HIDDEN VALLEY FARM Hidden Valley Farm is a picturesque country farm on 400+ acres of land in a quiet, end-of-the-road, secluded valley offering plenty of room for outdoor activities. Its wide-open meadows and trout-stocked ponds are surrounded by breath-taking views of Vermont’s famed maple trees, woodlands and mountains. Hike our private mountain to enjoy the views. Breathe deeply to appreciate Vermont’s famous fresh air generated by countless trees. The farm features an old-fashioned red country barn housing three bucolic steers. Enjoy the ambiance of staying in a newly-renovated 80-year-old authentic farmhouse. Also available separately is the Log Cabin (Homeaway property #HA 146185), which is up a hill and about a football field away. Rent both for reunions, weddings, family get-togethers, retreats, seminars, writing practicums, etc. History The farm has a colorful history. Its Farm House served as a dance hall and rumor has it that in the 1920 s prohibition moonshine was made at the farm. That might account for the street’s original name—Pint Road. In the 1930 s, the original Farm House burned and the Corey family bought the then 200-acre property, rebuilt the Farm House and ran the farm as a dairy farm. Next, they bought a cider mill and converted it into the barn. They raised dairy cows—and 11 children—and sold milk, potatoes, popcorn, maple syrup and lumber, which they sold out of a sawmill they built that is still standing. The Farmhouse The 3000-square foot, two-story Farmhouse offers several gathering areas: a modern living room with a fireplace; a dining room; a high-ceiling sun room with flat-screen TV, a bar and a wood stove; a fully-equipped sociable kitchen, and a laundry room with washer and dryer. Outside security cameras provide security in the front and back yards. The Farmhouse sleeps 2-14 with four bedrooms, a sleeping alcove and two and a half baths. There are three twin beds, three double beds, two queen beds and a day bed in the sun room. This is not camp; all bedding and towels are provided. Entertainment options include cable television, free wi-fi, books and board games. A propane grill is on the Farmhouse deck. For socializing around a fire, there is also a fire pit. The Log Cabin (Homeaway property# HA 146185) The single-story 1200-square-foot log cabin, one of the few left in Vermont, has all today’s modern conveniences. Situated on a hillside, it is nicely laid out, sleeps 2-6 in two bedrooms, has a full bathroom with two sinks, a living room featuring a traditional stone fireplace, a dining area, an open, full kitchen, a laundry room and a sitting porch overlooking Hidden Valley Farm. Activities on the Farm Great private location for walking, hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, canoeing and watching for wildlife. Meander through wild flowers. Walk the farm’s meadows. Explore the pine and maple woodlands. Hike our mountain. Barbeque and have a bonfire under the moonlight. Get re-acquainted with serenity as you breathe Vermont’s legendary fresh air deeply into your lungs to clear your mind and energize your spirit. Swim in our large pond, dive from its pier. Guests are welcome to use, at their own liability, our 2-4 person paddleboat, canoe and two kayaks on our ponds. Watch for wildlife. Wild rabbits and families of wild turkeys are likely to march by during the day. Deer come at sunrise and sunset. Listen to owls at night. Foxes are occasional visitors. Like all farms, field mice are present in the fields, but controlled in the house. In winter, enjoy sledding in the snow on the farm. Relax with our library of our classic books. Wind down with one of our many board games. It is our mission to send our guests back home refreshed, renewed and revitalized. Vermont will do that for you. If it’s peace of mind you’re hoping to rediscover, it’s waiting for you at Hidden Valley Farm. Activities off the Farm The heart of our small town—the Wells Country Store—offers essential groceries; a variety of homemade baked goodies made fresh every morning; soups, salads and sandwiches for lunch and Juli’s excellent wine collection. The lovely Lake St. Catherine in the Lake St. Catherine State Park is a 5-10 drive, just past the town’s miniature golf course. The park is convenient for picnicking (picnic tables provided), fishing, boating and jet skiing. Golf Eighteen-hole golf is a 10-minute drive to the open-to-the-public Lake St. Catherine Country Club ( or at the famed Saratoga National Golf Course, named one of the Top 100 Golf Courses by Golf Digest. Skiing Hidden Valley Farm is central to all Vermont’s major ski areas. Bromley is the closest, a 30-minute drive. Pico, Killington, Stratton, Okemo are all about an hour drive. Fishing is popular on the nearby Battenkill River. Local farmer’s markets and craft fairs. To the south is Manchester, the original outlet town, with award-winning restaurants and antique shops. Don’t miss the charming independent Northshire Bookstore, Orvis s glorious flagship store, antiques and arts and crafts shops. Stop in Manchester after skiing at Bromley or Stratton. House (5000 sq. ft.) in ,
7.2 miles from Lake St. Catherine
The house is on large acreage, with views of the OxBow from the front deck & of Mt. Hoag from the back porch. Owned by the same family since 1962, the house was recently renovated & has eight bedrooms plus a loft with two queen-size bunks that sleeps 8, 4 full and& 2 half-baths, & a large kitchen/dining room with 2 of all appliances. Perfect for a large family gathering or company retreat, the house has a game room that doubles as a media room & a large library for private meetings. The house is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines and has a ramp for accessibility and interior facilities for the disabled. One of the family's favorite activities is to walk around Mt Hoag, a journey of about 5 miles with mountain views that change with the seasons. Turn left out the front door and head up the road, bear left at the first fork, follow the main road, and after about two hours you will be back home. The farm has its own sugar bush, which means our sugar maples are tapped for sap that is boiled down to become syrup. Sugaring season starts when days are warm and nights are cold, usually late February. To see the sugar bush in action, book for late March. Winter Activities Winter activities on the property include sledding, cross-country skiing, exploring the surrounding woodlands, and of course walking around Mt. Hoag. The closest places for downhill skiing are Killington Ski Resort in Killington and Bromley Mountain in Peru. Farther away are Stratton Mountain, Mt. Snow, and Magic Mountain. From October through early March, Riley Rink at Hunter Park in Manchester is open for indoor skating. If the temperatures are below freezing for several days running, Dorset has a pond for outdoor skating just outside the town. Ask for directions at the store. Summer Activities Summer activities include dining al fresco, song fests and marshmallow roasting around a campfire, badminton or croquet on the back lawn, wading in the creek, and exploring the woodlands. Or, lounge on the back porch and see the sun rise and set, or on the front deck and gaze across the fields at the OxBow. Wander through the fields or woodlands. Activities requiring a car include swimming in the Dorset marble quarry, sailing and swimming in nearby Lake St. Catherine or Emerald Lake State Park, hiking to Little Rock Pond or at Merck Forest and Farmland Center in Rupert, horseback riding at Chipman Stables in Danby, picking summer fruits at Liebig's Strawberries in West Pawlet, or attending a play at the Dorset Playhouse, which has been staging plays for more than 60 years. In W. Rutland is the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center, supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. It hosts aspiring sculptors and lies next to abandoned marble quarries that make great private swimming holes. More information is (Email hidden by Airbnb) Merck Forest and Farmland, a 30-minute drive from Flower Brook Farm, is a special experience any time of year. Free and open sunrise to sunset every day, the 30 miles of trails make for excellent walking or cross-country skiing. Merck taps its sugar maples and has a large evaporator housed in a barn where visitors can see how syrup is made. Toward the end of March, which is typically sugaring season, it holds a pancake breakfast. The visitor center is open 9:00 to 4:00 daily and their certified-organic syrup is sold there. Little Rock Pond in the Green Mountain National Forest in Danby is reached by an hour walk on the Little Rock Pond Trail. Your reward is a refreshing swim in a clear mountain pond. Farther afield is the town of Saratoga Springs, NY, with the world-famous thoroughbred track at the Saratoga Race Course and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, a venue for popular and classical concerts and summer home of the New York City Ballet and Philadelphia Orchestra.

Beautiful house with lofted bedroom and two closed sleeping spaces. Beautiful view, porch and patio. A rural, country escape with all the convenience of a modern home 15 minutes from the city of Rutland, 20 from Killington Mountain. Relax, unwind, gaze out at the lovely view, eat a meal outside, cozy up by the fire. This home is a labor of love, very peaceful with lots of handmade details. The house: The main floor of the home includes a living space, dining space, bedroom with a crib, three-quarter bath, and pantry. A hatch door opens to a steep stair (ship's ladder) to the walkout basement. The basement has another bedroom with a full bed, another living space with a projector for entertainment (BYOcomputer). There is no television in the house. The basement has a bathroom with a deep galvanized soaking tub (no shower), and a washer/dryer. Two queen blow up mattresses are also available. The house sits up on a hill with a beautiful view and always enough breeze that we rarely experience any bugs. Huge lawn with vegetable garden. During the summer, we mow a series of walking paths into the fields on the property. There are wildflowers everywhere. During the winter, the home is heated by two pellet stoves that guests will have to fill periodically (by pouring a 40 lb bag of pellets into a hopper at the back of the stove about once a day.) Interaction with guests: We will be available by phone, text or FaceTime whenever needed. We may be available upon arrival to show guests around and answer any questions. Other things to note: There are two steep staircases in the house: a narrow spiral stair leading up the the loft and a steep ship's ladder down to the basement. There is a hatch to the basement that must remain closed except when in use if there are children (or anyone else at risk of falling) in the home. We can provide a fabric gate to block the spiral stair if needed (we have two toddlers ourselves).

Cabin (1700 sq. ft.) in West Pawlet, VT
8.6 miles from Lake St. Catherine
In this current time of concern over the Covid-19 coronavirus, I would like to assure all my up coming and future guests that every effort is taken to thoroughly clean and disinfect the entire cabin between guests. I have also decided to block of a couple of days between guests (sometimes that actually turns into multiple days based upon reservations) to futher mitigate any possible transmission of germs. Also understand that the cabin is private and located away from other people in a township with a small population. Due to a recent question, I would like to make it clear at the start (even though this information is elsewhere in the listing), that the cabin can comfortably sleep 7 if the configuration of single and double beds is fully utilized, and a few more could be squeezed in if the couches and roll away cot are used, BUT my prices are based upon a 4 guest maximum with an additional charge of $35 per person per night over the 4. Now on with the listing: ARTISTIC LOG CABIN, private and peaceful. Set into a perfect homestead property with fruit trees, berries, gardens and naturally terraced terrain. With woods and old pastures all around, the birds will herald the morning sunrise. Beautiful views from the numerous windows and porch around two sides of house; also, a large slate patio that is perfect for cook outs. Fully appointed kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and two ovens. Cabin accomodates up to 7 people, master bedroom with private bathroom, second bedroom has one double bed, one single and another single in bedroom loft (which kids LOVE). The sunroom has two couches that double as beds. The bedrooms and two bathrooms are upstairs, one bathroom is on the first floor. The cabin is owner built from mostly reused or local materials found in surrounding woods. Each bathroom is a unique work of art and you have never seen a fireplace like this one! The cabin is meant to be an example of how a beautiful, comfortable and functional house can be built for a fraction of the cost using your imagination. $180 per night, 2 night minimum based on up to 4 guests, additional guest $35 each per night. The cabin is artistic and rustic in nature and in order to appeal to those ideals certain safety considerations are not present in terms of railing heights and spacing, steps inside and out are irregular, balconies inside and out, patios and porches as well as surrounding terrain are all organic and not young child safe. Please consider this when planning a trip with young children and feel free to ask for more details. ALSO AVAILABLE: Treehouse compound. Two treehouses (one two story, one three story), cooking/eating pavilion, outside shower and firepit. Sleeps 11 total in warmest part of summer (5 in cooler months on either end), very cool! type in 802728 in the "search for" bar to find it on this site.
